Books that changed my life:
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Portrait of a Lady by Henry James
All the Kings Men by Robert Penn Warren

Books that influenced my writing.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

This book showed me the power of non-fiction narrative. I read it when I was in the sixth grade and was amazed by the fully-etched characters and narrative tension. In Cold Blood showed how much drama can be built into a non-fiction story. The best journalism also establishes a strong narrative story.
