National Book Awards Online Entry Form Now Open

2013 NBA Entry Form

We are now accepting entries for the 2013 National Book Awards via our new online entry form. Publishers who meet the criteria may register, fill out the form, and pay the entry fee online; however, books should still be mailed to the Judges and to our office as usual. The form will only be available through June 3, and the books themselves are due to the Judges by July 15. Please be sure to read the official guidelines before filling out the form. The guidelines and entry form are available on our website.

Reserve Your Seat for the NBA Novel-to-Screen Film Festival

On April 4 and 5, we will partner with Pratt Institute to present the inaugural National Book Awards Novel-to-Screen Film Festival, featuring three films based on National Book Award-nominated books: "Lolita," "The Cool World," and "Hugo." All screenings and panel discussions are free and open to the public, but seats are limited. To reserve your seat, email Sherrie Young at syoung@nationalbook.org with "RSVP for Novel-to-Screen" in the subject line. For more information, please visit our website.

Watch Video from NBA on Campus with Louise Erdrich and Domingo Martinez

On March 21 and 22, we once again partnered with Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota to present National Book Awards on Campus. This year's program featured Louise Erdrich, 2012 NBA Fiction Winner for The Round House, and Domingo Martinez, 2012 NBA Nonfiction Finalist for The Boy Kings of Texas. NPR's Neal Conan interviewed both authors. Video of the program is now available on Concordia's website.

Checking In with Past 5 Under 35 Honorees

5 Under 35

When authors are named 5 Under 35 honorees, they are typically at the beginning of their careers. But over the years, our honorees have gone on to publish more books, win more awards, and do other great things. Click here to check out what some of our past 5 Under 35 honorees have been up to recently.

What Are You Reading? Post-its Available

What Are You Reading? Post-it
If you visited our booth at last year's Brooklyn Book Festival or the recent AWP Conference in Boston, you might have seen our What Are You Reading? board--just one of many ways that we foster conversation about books and reading. To take the conversation even further, we'd like to offer teachers, librarians, booksellers, and any others who promote reading in their communities up to twenty-five What Are You Reading? Post-it pads to use in the classroom, library, bookstore, or beyond. Just send an email to Sherrie Young at syoung@nationalbook.org specifying how many pads you'd like and where they should be mailed.

Only a Few Tickets Left for Eat, Drink & Be Literary

Don't miss your chance to see some of today's most compelling authors at the Brooklyn Academy of Music! Upcoming events with Junot Díaz, Alison Bechdel, and Richard Russo are sold out, but tickets to see Keith Gessen and Masha Gessen (June 5) are still available. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit BAM.org.
