A member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwa, Louise Erdrich is the author of several novels, including Love Medicine, The Beet Queen, The Bingo Palace, and The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse, which was a Finalist for the 2001 National Book Award for Fiction. Her poetry books are The Baptism of Desire, and Jacklight. Louise's books for young people include Grandmother's Pigeon, a picture book, and The Birchbark House, a 1999 National Book Award Finalist and winner of the Wordcraft Circle Writer of the Year award for Children's Literature-Prose. She lives with her daughters in Minnesota.
