This delightfully original graphic novel subverts the stereotypes and archetypes of fantasy. Nimona, shapeshifter extraordinaire, joins forces with Lord Blackheart in his battle against Sir Goldenloin, and science and technology clash in a medieval-like society. At first, Blackheart does not welcome Nimona’s involvement, but they eventually reach a tentative understanding. Illustration and text combine to create a vibrant world where heroes are not always brave, villains not always evil, and appearances can deceive.
