Suzanne
Fisher Staples served
as a news reporter and editor for United Press International
for ten years in Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan,
Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, New York, and Washington,
D.C. She later worked as a foreign news editor for ten
years at The Washington Post. Ms. Staples returned
to Pakistan to assess the lives of poor rural women on
an assignment with the United States Agency for International
Development. She is the author of a memoir, The Green
Dog, published in September 2003; and four novels:
Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind, a 1990 Newbury Honor
Book; its sequel, Haveli;Dangerous Skies;
and Shivas Fire, all of which have won numerous
awards. |
