Settlement House Author Residency 2003

Lesa Cline-Ransome
SOUTHEAST BRONX NEIGHBORHOOD CENTERS, INC.
BRONX, NY

May 19 and May 20

Lesa-Cline Ransome engaged pre-kindergartens by reading sections of her book Quilt Counting and Quilt Alphabet, which were illustrated with bright colors. During her reading, Ms. Cline-Ransome addressed the subjects of counting, numbers, shapes, and words. The participants interacted by counting their numbers from 1 to 10 and 10 to 1, and by saying their alphabets.

SeaStar of North-South Books offered books at a discount, which were donated by the Foundation to participants.

The National Book Foundation Settlement House Author Residency program is made possible through a leadership grant from the Theodore H. Barth Foundation, with additional funding from the Educational Foundation of America, New York Community Trust, R.R. Donnelley, and the New York State Council on the Arts.
