The Board of Directors and Staff of the National Book
Foundation would like to invite you to join our "institutional
family" by making a tax-deductible donation for
general operating purposes.
The National Book Foundation is a 501c3, nonprofit
organization (Federal Tax ID Number: 13-3347524) that
relies on your support to benefit its many educational
outreach programs.
All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged
in writing by the Foundation.
Please click on the link below to use our online payment
service to make a donation via credit card.
While filling out the donation form you will be asked
if there is a specific program you would like your gift
to support. Here are the Foundation's major programs
and a brief description of each:
American Voices
brings National Book Award authors to American Indian
Reservations across the country, where they explore
the ways in which reading and writing can help preserve
the ancient Native tradition of storytelling.
Family Literacy
brings Award-winning authors to New York City public
schools, where they explore with students and their
parents the ways in which reading and writing can help
people of all ages articulate their feelings about family
life.
Pleasures of Reading
brings National Book Award authors to schools and libraries
in small cities, towns, and rural areas throughout the
United States.
Settlement House
brings National Book Award authors to settlement houses
and community centers across New York City, where they
explore the writing life with latch-key children, single
mothers, English-as-a-second-language students, GED
students and senior citizens.
Summer Writing Camp
modeled on traditional writers' conferences, the Camp
offers 48 apprentice writers the opportunity to travel
to the countryside, where they live the life of writers
for nine-days -- reading, writing, attending workshops,
readings, and talking about books. Participants attend
completely free of charge.
If you prefer not to contribute online, you may
mail your pledge with a check to National Book Foundation,
95 Madison Avenue, Suite 709, New York, NY 10016.
If you are interested in making a major gift and
would like to speak to a Foundation Program Officer
