Join the National Book Foundation and the DC Public Library for a celebration focused on the literary legacy and seminal works of James Baldwin, a four-time National Book Award Finalist (Giovanni’s Room, Nobody Knows My Name, The Fire Next Time, and Just Above My Head).
The program will include a discussion between National Book Awards-honored authors Jason Reynolds (Ghost, Long Way Down) and Ibi Zoboi (American Street), who will talk about the importance of Baldwin and his work’s urgent relevance in today’s society. The conversation will be followed by a screening of the acclaimed documentary I Am Not Your Negro.
Author in Focus: James Baldwin is presented with filmmaker Raoul Peck and Velvet Films, the team behind I Am Not Your Negro, with funding from the Ford Foundation.
There will be a limited amount of free titles by James Baldwin at the event.
