Honorable Mention for the 2015 Innovations in Reading Prize

February 2016

Motionpoems are a hybrid art form, mixing poetry and animation to bring poems to new audiences. Founded in 2008 by poet Todd Boss and filmmaker Angella Kassube, Motionpoems has created over 60 films and is currently at work on their sixth season.

“It feels like the work has been honored in a totally erratically different way you could have ever done just by reading it in front of an audience,” says Boss.

Working with remarkable filmmakers and a variety of established and emerging poets, including Robert Bly, Maxine Kumin, and Matthew Zapruder, Motionpoems “have the power to turn the poetry-averse into passionate poetry fans.”
