Historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., was Albert Schweitzer Professor of the Humanities at the City University of New York and author of more than 20 books, including prize-winning biographies of Andrew Jackson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as well as histories of the New Deal. Schlesinger also was a founder of Americans for Democratic Action and worked on the presidential campaigns for John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. His book A Thousand Days: John F. Kennedy in the White House won the National Book Award in 1966. He won a second National Book Award in 1979 for his biography Robert Kennedy and his Times. More about this author >
