CM Burroughs is Associate Professor of Poetry in the English and Creative Writing Department at Columbia College Chicago. She is the author of two poetry collections: The Vital System and Master Suffering. Burroughs has received fellowships and grants from Yaddo, MacDowell, Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Cave Canem. She has received commissions from the Studio Museum in Harlem and the Andy Warhol Museum to create poetry in response to art installations. Burroughs’s poetry has appeared in journals and anthologies including Poetry, Callaloo, jubilat, Ploughshares, VOLT, Best American Experimental Writing, and The Golden Shovel Anthology: New Poems Honoring Gwendolyn Brooks.
