John Vaillant’s is the author of the award-winning, bestselling nonfiction books, The Golden Spruce: A True Story of Myth, Madness, and Greed and The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival; and novel, The Jaguar’s Children, which was a finalist for the Atwood Gibson Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award. Vaillant has received the Governor General’s Literary Award, the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize, and the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction. He has written for, among others, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, National Geographic, and The Walrus. He lives in Vancouver.
