John Vaillant’s is the author of the award-winning, bestselling nonfiction books, The Golden Spruce: A True Story of Myth, Madness, and Greed and The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival; and novel, The Jaguar’s Children, which was a finalist for the Atwood Gibson Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award. Vaillant has received the Governor General’s Literary Award, the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize, and the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction. He has written for, among others, The New YorkerThe AtlanticNational Geographic, and The Walrus. He lives in Vancouver.
